Previously, the Small Business Administration (SBA) placed a pause on submission of 8a applications for new applicants due to a presumption of social disadvantage for certain minority groups. Effective September 29, 2023, the SBA has re-opened the program by adding a plain language fillable questionnaire for applicants to identify their social disadvantage. The updated process does not apply to Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations, Native Hawaiian Organizations, Community Development Corporations.
