Fiscal year 2024 per diem federal travelers’ rates have been issued and will become effective October 1, 2023. As inflation has impacted much of the United States lodging rates have increased as well. Fortunately, the increase is not substantial as the General Services Administration (GSA) states that the maximum lodging rates are based on the historical average daily rate data (ADR), less five percent. Further the agency states that the pandemic contributed to declines in ADR coupled with unstable hotel industry recovery. The 2024 per diem rates can be found at the agency’s website.
