FCP Update Yu Cannot Ignore

SAM.gov Becomes Federal Contracts Search Hub

As part of its ongoing systems modernization effort, the General Services Administration will decommission the ezSearch function within FPDS.gov on February 24, 2026. All ezSearch capabilities are now available through SAM.gov, where users can access contract award data and related resources. Additional information is available at the official SAM.gov FPDS page.

The General Services Administration has been migrating FPDS.gov functionality to SAM.gov since 2020 and transitioned the ezSearch function in July 2025. After February 24, 2026, ezSearch will no longer be accessible through FPDS.gov, making SAM.gov the sole authoritative source for searching federal contract information. Users can search contract awards data through the contracting search feature on SAM.gov by creating an account through Login.gov. Individuals who prefer not to create an account will still be able to access public contract data through USASpending.gov.

Although the search function remains available in both systems until February 24, users are encouraged to transition fully to SAM.gov for contract information searches. SAM.gov currently serves as the authoritative source for federal contract data. Contract awards data within SAM.gov supports policy development and trend analysis by providing publicly available information on unclassified contract actions that exceed the micro purchase threshold, as well as modifications that change previously reported information regardless of dollar value.

All data previously accessible through FPDS.gov is now available within SAM.gov. The migration has also introduced improvements designed to enhance usability and search performance. These improvements include clearer navigation across contract opportunities, contract awards, and subaward reporting records. The system now offers priority search filters aligned with established user experience standards, introduces picker style drop down lists for filters, and provides more intuitive search tools that support partial searches, which were not available in FPDS.gov.
