The government has been inching towards the transition of DUNS Number usage for a couple of years and now the time is near to finalize the process. Effective April 4, 2022 vendors that conduct business with the federal government will no longer have use for DUNS numbers and will be using Unique Entity ID (UEI). This means if you are a registered user in SAM.gov you have already been assigned a UEI.
If you plan to do business with the government you will need to register for a DUNS number until April 4, 2022, after that date you will be required to request a UEI via SAM.gov. To register your business for a UEI you may click here.
