USAccess FIMP RFI Deadline Extended Again

If USAccess credentialing is on your radar, mark your calendar. GSA just extended the response deadline for the Federal Identity Materials Program (FIMP) Request for Information (RFI) to August 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

FIMP is the program behind the physical credentials federal employees and contractors carry every day, think PIV cards and the materials that go into producing them. Through this RFI, GSA wants to hear from industry on a few key fronts:

• Competitive solutions that could modernize how these credentials get made
• Ways to strengthen operational resilience in the supply chain
• Alternative credential form factors worth exploring

In plain terms, GSA is doing its homework before it writes the acquisition strategy. That means this RFI is your chance to shape what the eventual solicitation looks like, not just react to it after the fact.

An extended deadline usually signals one of two things: GSA wants more industry engagement, or contractors asked for more time to put together a thoughtful response.
